Parents and carers should note that most, if not all, online video chat platforms have a minimum age of 18. As such it is highly advised that children and young people do not visit these platforms.
You should take time to learn how the messaging apps your child uses work. Additionally, you may find that many messaging apps and platforms have a ‘family centre’ which allows parents and carers to enable special settings that protect their children on the platform. Setting up these parental controls, and knowing which features may be most harmful to your child, can be essential for ensuring your child has a safe and positive experience on these platforms.
